My Story

I have a profound love of Aromatherapy and essential oils. The very mention of the words "essential oils", conjure up images of inner peace and tranquillity.

There is so much more to the oils than meets the eye, each one has its own unique "personality", its own characteristic and charm.

I turned to essential oils to help me manage and combat a variety of conditions.

I have the genetic disease Variegate Porphyria, the R59W South African mutation.

I suffer adverse reactions to many drugs, chemicals, synthetic chemicals, foods, environmental factors, sunlight and stress.

These are just a few of my triggers.

I have both the cutaneous and neurological aspects of Porphyria, thus my skin is very fragile, easily injured,  is susceptible to infections and scaring.

Thus a lifelong journey ensued to find products that would not aggravate my condition and simultaneously provide me with alternatives such as complimentary therapies to manage my chronic neurological symptoms.

Aromatherapy & formulating products specifically for my needs has been my saving grace.

I look forward to sharing my journey with you, inspiring and passing on the knowledge and the love I have gained through the study of essential oils, their many uses in everyday life, their contraindications as well as educating you on the safe use of oils.

Join me on this wonderful journey!

My fascination with the world of cosmetics and beauty started from a young age. I have always had a passion for make-up artistry and skincare. Growing up, my grandmother, mother, and sister taught me various things about beauty, how to take care of yourself and how important it is to treat your skin with the utmost care.

Having suffered from sensitive skin for most of my life, I learnt very quickly just how vital this was. My mother educated me about a skin condition that is hereditary to our family, called Porphyria. She took my sister and I for the genetic testing, which resulted in us both being carriers of this condition.

From that moment on I was more cautious with the beauty and personal care products I used. After my schooling career, I went onto study theatrical and special effects make-up as I had my heart set on becoming a famous make-up artist. I would cut out pictures from magazines, read up on all the latest trends, practice different make-up looks and decided this was for me. The first diploma I received was from Total Concept Beauty Academy, an internationally recognized accreditation in beauty make-up. In 2011, I then went on to obtain my qualification in theatrical and special effects make-up from the Make-Up Issue. This was a yearlong course focusing on theatre and stage make-up & costumes as well as special effects for the film industry.

Due to limitations in an extremely competitive industry and the hours that were required, I decided to take up a full-time job in retail and study part-time, via correspondence, to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Communication Science from the University of South Africa. This took me 4 years to complete and I graduated in 2018. I thoroughly enjoyed this degree as I love the power of words, reading and writing. This was a great second choice as it allowed me to still express my creativity through my writing. My Communications degree focused on different aspects of business marketing, advertising, journalism, and media studies.

In the January of 2020, my husband I immigrated to the UK and I found myself with the opportunity to have a fresh start. I decided then and there that this was going to be my chance to do something that I genuinely love and now here we are. I get to work along side my mother, doing something that brings us such joy and excitement.
